Anime Vault respects intellectual property rights and expects users to do the same. This page covers how to send us a copyright infringement notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and what we do after we receive one.
We act on valid notices quickly
When we receive a properly formatted DMCA notice, we will:
- Remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material within five business days, usually faster
- Notify the user who posted it, if applicable
- Keep a record of the notice and our response
- Repeat-offender users may have their accounts terminated
We take this process seriously and we are not in the habit of fighting good-faith takedown requests. If your work is on our site without permission and you want it removed, the path below is direct.
How to send a DMCA notice
To be valid under the DMCA, your notice must include all of the following. Missing pieces will delay processing.
1. Your contact information:
Full legal name, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
2. Identification of the copyrighted work:
Describe the original work being infringed. Provide a URL to where the original exists if possible (your portfolio, official rights page, registration record, etc.).
3. Identification of the infringing material:
The exact URL on animewebsite.net where the infringing content appears. We cannot act on vague references like “somewhere on your site.” Specific URLs only.
4. A statement of good faith:
Include this exact sentence: “I have a good faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.”
5. A statement of accuracy under penalty of perjury:
Include this exact sentence: “The information in this notification is accurate, and under penalty of perjury, I am the owner, or authorized to act on behalf of the owner, of the copyright that is allegedly infringed.”
6. A physical or electronic signature:
Typed full name counts as electronic signature.

Counter-notice process
If you posted content on Anime Vault and we removed it after receiving a DMCA notice, you may file a counter-notice if you believe the takedown was wrong. Your counter-notice must include:
- Your full name, address, phone number and email
- Identification of the material that was removed and the URL where it was located
- A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification
- Your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate federal court
- Your physical or electronic signature
Once we receive a valid counter-notice, we forward it to the original complainant. If they do not file a court action within 10 to 14 business days, we may restore the content.

False claims
Filing a false DMCA notice (or a false counter-notice) carries legal consequences under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f). Sending notices to silence criticism, suppress fair-use commentary, or bully fan-art creators is not a winning strategy. We push back on bad-faith claims.
Fair use and editorial commentary
Anime Vault uses anime imagery, screenshots, character names, studio names and related trademarks under fair use principles for review, commentary, analysis and reporting. Not every reference to your work is infringement. If you believe a specific use crosses the line, send a notice and we will review it fairly.
Repeat infringer policy
Per the DMCA, users who repeatedly post infringing material will have their accounts and content removed permanently.
